Since we stayed in Kona, we had to tour a coffee farm! We stopped at Greenwell Coffee Farms to learn about the growing process and sample delicious Kona Coffee. What I love about this place is that there is no cost and no need to make reservations. You just show up and they will take you on a tour and load you with samples of java before and after.
It’s a short tour that you can make fit into your schedule. Just keep in mind that you may be buzzing from caffeine after. The grounds are really pretty and we loved seeing not only the coffee being grown, dried and processed, but all the other fruit, and flowers there. Did you know that the coffee grown in Kona is not artificially irrigated at all? I asked our tour guide where the irrigation lines were hidden and she explained that they had no need for that! The rain and moisture is enough to sustain these beautiful coffee cherries that turn into hot cups of love, that I cannot live without.
